Joint Press Release New York Young Republican Club And Lex Libertas
Following the lead of the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, the New York Young Republican Club (NYYRC) has partnered with the South Africa-based think tank and advocacy group, Lex Libertas to shed light on the persecution of Afrikaners in South Africa.
In February 2026 Lex Libertas hosted the NYYRC on a fact-finding mission in South Africa. The NYYRC visited the White Cross Monument, poverty alleviation efforts, community schools, and the settlement of Orania. These are all privately supported because the extreme policies of racial discrimination enacted by the ruling African National Congress (ANC) exclude the Afrikaners and other minorities from basic freedoms with regard to employment, public service, and police protection.
The NYYRC and Lex Libertas can announce today that on March 31st, 2026, these two institutions reported their findings regarding the crisis in South Africa to the White House’s National Security Council and the State Department. The meeting included a discussion of the state of affairs in South Africa, and especially the work and research that Lex Libertas is involved with concerning farm murders and anti-White discrimination, including destructive race laws and the threats to property rights.
The NYYRC and Lex Libertas have resolved to take the following actions:
1. The NYYRC and Lex Libertas have launched a petition for 100,000 signatures calling on the U.S. Administration to appoint a special envoy to the Afrikaners and other cultural minorities, and for the pursuit of self-governance in South Africa to be recognized as a legitimate pursuit;
2.The NYYRC and Lex Libertas will host a vigil with 3,000 white crosses on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. to commemorate the victims of farm murders and persecution in South Africa. The crosses will display the names of thousands of murdered victims;
3.The NYYRC and Lex Libertas will host a conference in Washington, D.C., on the subject of minority persecution in South Africa. Lex Libertas will arrange to bring victims of farm attacks to Washington to share their personal testimonies at the conference; and
4.To formally request for the U.S. House of Representatives to initiate Congressional Hearings about the state of affairs in South Africa.
For the purpose of this campaign, the NYYRC and Lex Libertas have initiated a fundraiser, through which they encourage people to sponsor crosses for the vigil. Each cross is to be sponsored at the cost of $15.
The NYYRC and Lex Libertas also suggested some steps for the U.S. Administration to consider, namely:
1.To use the Magnitsky Act to impose sanctions against individuals in South Africa responsible for these human rights violations
2.Demand that American companies be exempted from restrictions based on the so-called Black Economic Empowerment policy quota system that prevents companies from doing business if they are not wholly or partially Black owned.
3.Declaration of organizations in South Africa that actively encourage race-based violence and criminality as terrorist groups.
4.The appointment of a special envoy from the State Department to investigate the persecution of Afrikaners and other minority groups in South Africa.
