Date and location confirmed for White Cross Project in Washington, D.C.

29/06/2026

Dr Ernst Roets, executive director of Lex Libertas, said the confirmation of the date and venue was an important milestone for the campaign.

PRETORIA – Lex Libertas and the New York Young Republican Club (NYYRC) today announced that the White Cross Project will take place on 26 September 2026 on the National Mall in Washington, D.C.

The necessary permission has been granted for the event to take place in East Seaton Park, on the lawn between 3rd Street and 4th Street, directly in front of the United States Capitol.

During the event, 3 000 white crosses will be erected in memory of victims of farm murders in South Africa. The purpose is to mobilise international support for practical solutions relating to the farm murder crisis, political incitement, race-based discrimination and the threats facing minority communities in South Africa.

Dr Ernst Roets, executive director of Lex Libertas, said the confirmation of the date and venue was an important milestone for the campaign.

‘This project will portray the reality of farm murders in one of the most visible locations in the world. Each cross will represent the name and story of a person whose life was claimed by this crisis. We want to ensure that these victims are not forgotten and that the international community can no longer pretend that this problem does not exist,’ Roets said. ‘Our purpose, however, is not merely to draw attention to the crisis, but to present practical solutions and mobilise support for those solutions,’ he added.

The White Cross Project is jointly presented by Lex Libertas and the NYYRC. It forms part of a broader international campaign to mobilise support for the protection of Afrikaners and other cultural communities in South Africa, as well as for peaceful decentralisation and self-governance.

Lex Libertas and the NYYRC are already receiving support from opinion leaders, institutions and community leaders in several countries. The organisations are now calling on members of the public to strengthen the campaign further by:

• signing the petition;

• sponsoring a cross for the event;

• sharing information about the project with their contacts; and, in particular,

• encouraging friends, institutions and communities in the United States to attend the event on 26 September.

Everyone who signs the petition will be kept informed about the preparations and further details on how they can join the event in Washington, D.C.

• The petition can be signed here, and white crosses can be sponsored through the same link: whitecrossproject.org
