A short overview of Tom van Grieken and what you can expect from his contribution at the FNC
The Future of Nations Conference is honoured to welcome Tom van Grieken, Member of the Belgian Parliament, author, and leader of Belgium’s second-largest political party, Vlaams Belang, as a featured speaker at FNC 2026.
Van Grieken is a leading voice for Flemish independence, regional autonomy, and responsible governance, with over a decade of experience in Belgian politics. He was re-elected as chairman of Vlaams Belang in December 2023, winning 97.7% of the votes, reflecting strong confidence in his vision. Known for initiatives such as the superdiversity tracker (2024), launched to monitor demographic change, and the Oostende-to-Brussels walk (2023), as well as representing Flemish interests internationally, he combines principled advocacy with practical action, making him a compelling voice in contemporary Flemish public life.
Having studied Communication Management at Plantijn Hogeschool in Antwerp, Van Grieken began his political engagement as President of the Nationalist Student Union (NSV) and later young president of Vlaams Belang. He has since become a prominent voice in European politics, contributing commentary featured by Reuters, Politico, The Brussels Times, France24, and Brussels Signal, and is a frequent guest in Flemish national media. His podcast, “Toogpraat met Tom,” featured prominent political guests such as Nigel Farage and Rik Torfs, former senator and rector of the Catholic University of Leuven.
He is also the author of Toekomst in eigen handen (‘The future in our own hands’, 2017), En nu is het aan ons! (‘And now it’s up to us’, 2020), and Immigratiestop: uit liefde voor ons volk (‘Migration Stop, Out of love for our people’, 2024). Through these works, he explores Flemish identity, national sovereignty, and political strategy, offering detailed proposals on migration, governance, and societal challenges.
At FNC 2026, Tom van Grieken will argue that the defining challenge of our time is the erosion of cultural identity in an increasingly abstract and globalist world. His speech will present nationalism as an anchor: a way to protect language, tradition, memory, and communal continuity amid rapid demographic and technological change. Drawing inspiration from the Afrikaner experience, he will defend national identity as the necessary foundation for resilience, self-organization, and meaningful freedom.
We look forward to hosting Tom van Grieken at FNC 2026 and to the perspectives he will bring.
