Who is Joost Strydom and what should attendees expect from his contribution at the FNC?
The Future of Nations Conference is proud to welcome Joost Strydom, CEO of the Orania Movement, as a featured speaker at FNC 2026.
Joost Strydom is widely recognised for his leadership in helping develop Orania as a sustainable, self-governing community for Afrikaners, combining practical community development with international advocacy for self-determination. Joost’s contribution in Orania, together with other leadership structures and roleplayers, helped Orania to grow with an average of 10 percent annually, with major infrastructure projects planned or underway. Orania’s recent growth includes a college, business structures, and a new city
square.
As the primary spokesperson of the Orania Movement, Strydom has engaged internationally to foster recognition and understanding of Afrikaner self-governance. In June 2022 he travelled to the Netherlands, Belgium Germany and Italy with a delegation to meet politicians and activist groups to seek international recognition for Orania’s position in South Africa’s political context. In late March 2025, he travelled to the United States with a delegation including Dr Ernst Roets, Executive Director of Lex Libertas, to seek international recognition of Orania’s autonomy, meeting with think tanks, Republican politicians, and influencers in New York and Washington, D.C.
His experience spans diplomacy, community development, and strategic messaging, while he continues to contribute with other Oranians to the ever growing levels of self sufficiency in Orania.
Strydom holds degrees in Communication and Anthropology, as well as in Economics, Politics, and Philosophy. He has shared Orania’s vision and model of self-determination through global media, including interviews with Reuters, CNN, and The Daily Caller. He has also appeared on a broad series of podcasts with international reach.
At the Future of Nations Conference, Strydom will explore how self-governing communities can thrive in the modern political landscape. He will highlight the practical realities of decentralisation, local accountability, and sustaining cultural identity in the 21st century. His address will provide insight into how communities can design their own political, economic, and social futures while navigating pressures at both national and international levels.
We look forward to welcoming Joost Strydom to FNC 2026 and to the important insights he will bring to the conversation about the future of nations.
