“We, the undersigned, urge the United States to appoint a special envoy dedicated to engaging with the Afrikaner community and other cultural minorities in South Africa. We call on the U.S. and other global partners to recognize the pursuit of self-governance in South Africa as a legitimate pursuit, to promote peaceful decentralization and self-governance reforms, fostering dialogue on regional and cultural autonomy and protecting communities from persecution. We believe such a step will support a viable, just, and free future for all peoples in South Africa.”
* Lex Libertas will reach out to signatories to keep them up to date with the campaign and suggest practical ways in which they could provide additional support.
Our Plan of Action
100,000 Signatures
We require at least 100,000 signatories on the petition, which we will present to the following institutions: the President of South Africa, the Parliament of South Africa, the President of the United States of America, the U.S. State Department, and various international forums, including the United Nations, the African Union and the European Union.
International Conferences
We will host conferences in South Africa, the United States and Europe to discuss the crisis in South Africa and our proposed solution. These conferences will include inputs by experts, as well as personal testimonies by victims of farm attacks, land grabs, racial exclusion and state failure in South Africa.
Mobilise Institutions
Mobilise institutions to add their names to the petition and encourage their supporters to sign the petition as well. In doing so, we seek to increase international recognition of the fact that the solution for South Africa is self-governance.
U.S. Congress Hearing
Request the U.S. Congress to host a public hearing regarding the crisis in South Africa and structural solutions.
Public Exhibitions
Arrange public exhibitions within the United States, Europe and Africa to bring attention to the crisis in South Africa, and the solution of self-governance.
Support This Campaign!
The campaign is estimated to cost $100,000. This will include the following:
- Three thousand crosses containing the names of people murdered during farm attacks in South Africa.
- Travel expenses for a core team and victims of farm attacks to Washington, D.C.
- A conference in Washington, D.C. to discuss issues relating to incitement of violence, farm attacks, race laws and property rights in South Africa, including what could be done to address these issues, and what the United States and other countries can do to help.
- The production of a documentary film which will be released and aired to audiences in Washington, D.C.
- Research, particularly related to the issues mentioned above and the verification of farm attacks.
After Washington, we will execute similar campaigns in South Africa and Europe. For that reason, we kindly ask you to join us as a monthly contributor to Lex Libertas. Doing so will enable us to execute this project and future projects in a sustainable way.
